Not just another great Pro-Am 2022 at The Sands

The Sands Torquay, recent winners of the 2022 Regional Pro-Am of the year, held its 2023 Pro-am on Sunday the 30th of October with an exceptional field from the PGA Tours, Addidas Pro-am Series. The Sands Torquay Golf Resort hosted a morning and afternoon event with the Clubs Members in the morning event alongside PGA professionals, with the afternoon hosting the events generous sponsors alongside professionals such as Marcus Fraser, Tim Hart and the Clubs Touring Professional and Ambassador - Ben Eccles.

Victorian and frequent visitor to the Sands Jack Murdoch took out the Sands Torquay Pro-Am with a 7 under 65, including a stretch of 5 birdies on the front 9 of the Stuart Appelby designed championship golf course.


Jack gave great praise to The Sands Resort " I played very well today, the course is in tremendous condition, the putting surfaces are some of the best I have played on all year Murdoch said. " All the players have been made to feel extremely welcome. The immaculate playing surfaces, along with the way the event has been set up and organised has made this event stand out as one of the very best Pro-Am's not only in regional Victoria, but in Australia".

With the sun shining, the locals and interstate visitors flocked to watch the PGA professionals play the championship course at The Sands Torquay. Both morning and afternoon teams on the completion of their round relaxed and were entertained in the Southern Hemispheres largest Bar - Shirley's. Chef, Bevan Vahland and his team prepared a sumptuous lunch and dinner for all participants in Shirley's restaurant.


The Sands Torquay, who will also host the majority of players and officials for "The Great Ocean Road Beach Volley Fest", is gaining the reputation at the first choice to dine, stay, play and entertain on the Bellarine Peninsula. With Major sporting bodies such as Volley Ball Australia seeking out The Sands Resort renovated 112 room accommodation, newly opened state of the art weights and cardio rooms, complementing its indoor heated 25-meter lap pool, Spike Cafe, Bunkers and Shirley's, The Sands Torquay is truly the "Jewel on The Surf Coast"


The Sands Golf Course is also scheduled to host The Australian Senior Open from next March. Plans are being finalized with Golf Australia and The SParms PGA Legends Tour to bring some of the world's best known senior players to The Sands Resort. It is anticipated that The Australian Senior Open will from 2024 be joint sanctioned with the European Tours Senior Tour welcoming to Torquay, some of the legends of the game.
