Yes. Sabbia is The Sands Torquay's permanent Italian restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Led by Executive Chef Brad Hawker and Head Chef Josh Watson, Sabbia serves locally sourced produce with a modern Italian approach, and enjoys views over the championship golf course. Reservations are recommended.
Sabbia serves modern Italian cuisine with a focus on locally sourced Surf Coast and Victorian produce. The menu features a Feed Me banquet option (minimum guest numbers apply) as well as à la carte dining. The restaurant offers alfresco seating with golf course views.

Yes. The Sands is just a 5-minute walk from Whites Beach, a beautiful off-leash beach and one of the Surf Coast's best-kept secrets, a long, open stretch of sand where your dog can run freely. The Surf Coast Walk, a 44km multi-use trail between Torquay and Aireys Inlet, is also easily accessible and welcomes dogs on-leash along many sections. For current off-leash times and zones across the Surf Coast, refer to the Surf Coast Shire Council website.
Dog stays are covered within our dog-friendly package, simply select it at the time of booking and there are no additional charges at check-in. Just make sure you choose the dog-friendly package when reserving your room, as this is required to bring your dog along.

The Sands is approximately 100km from Melbourne CBD, around 90 minutes by car via the Princes Freeway and Geelong Ring Road. It's one of the closest full-service coastal resorts to Melbourne, making it ideal for a weekend escape or mid-week retreat.
Bells Beach is approximately 10 minutes by car from The Sands Torquay (around 7km). Bells Beach is home to the Rip Curl Pro, one of the world's longest-running professional surf competitions, and offers one of Australia's most iconic surf breaks.

All rooms are air-conditioned with private balconies/patios, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and complimentary WiFi. An accessible room is also available.
Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am. Early check-in and late check-out may be available on request, subject to availability, please contact us directly to arrange.
Yes. The Sands has an indoor heated lap pool available to all resort guests. The pool also hosts swim school sessions and fitness classes at select times, please refer to our Pool & Lap Lane Availability schedule for optimal swim times.
